Before they moved to Tasmania, two of MOT’s founding members, Hildegunn and Jasmin, lived in the county of Innlandet Norway and worked as volunteers in the local branch of the Norwegian LGBT association. There they organised hiking tours and outdoor adventures in the beautiful mountainous region of central Norway.
The FRI Innlandet and Late Bloomers groups in Innlandet are made up of a lovely group of women, and both Hildegunn and Jasmin imagined that one day a kind of cultural exchange and hiking adventures between both FRI Innlandet / Late Bloomers and Map of Tassie would be a fantastic goal and dream.
This would mean Map of Tassie members could travel to Innlandet, Norway and stay locally, meet members from FRI Innlandet and Late Bloomers, experience central Norway’s culture, heritage and nature, and spend a month hiking through breathtaking Scandinavian nature.
Similarly, members from both FRI Innlandet and Late Bloomers could come to Tasmania, stay locally, meet members from Map of Tassie, experience Tasmania’s culture, heritage and nature, and spend a month hiking through pristine Taswegian nature.
Once Covid restrictions are eased, both Hildegunn and Jasmin hope to make this goal a reality.
